Film distributors Next Entertainment World (NEW) and Showbox formed a partnership with e-commerce company Coupang’s new streaming service Coupang Play on Thursday.

NEW will be releasing 25 of its most popular films through the platform, such as “Train to Busan” (2016), “Miracle in Cell No. 7” and “The Attorney” (2013) — which have recorded over 10 million in ticket sales — and others such as “New World” (2013), “The Great Battle” (2018) and “Crazy Romance” (2019).

Showbox will also be distributing 51 films including “The Thieves” (2012), “Inside Men” (2015) and “The Face Reader” (2013).

As more people view films through streaming platforms than at theaters due to the influence of Covid-19, the distributors hope they will be able to reach more people through the latest platform.

With a monthly membership of 2,900 won ($2.60), Coupang Play offers a wide array of content including films, drama series, animations, education and more.
