KB Financial Group was appointed one of the 12 steering group banks for the Net-Zero Banking Alliance, the bank announced Wednesday.
The steering group will encourage global financial companies to build and execute plans to achieve net zero emissions.
The Korean company was selected to represent the Asia-Pacific region.
Other banks in the steering group include Standard Chartered, Bank of America and BBVA.
The alliance, launched in April 2021, is a United Nations-convened organization that brings together 53 banks from 27 countries committed to aligning their lending and investment portfolios with the net zero emissions target by 2050.
