Korea will send five skiers to compete in cross-country skiing, the winter Olympics answer to distance racing, at the Beijing Games.

Lee Chae-won will become only the fifth Korean to compete at six Olympics in Beijing, where she will also be the oldest member of Team Korea.

Lee earned her cross-country skiing berth in December last year in Pyeongchang, Gangwon, when she took first place in the Fédération Internationale de Ski (FIS) Far East Cup women’s 5-kilometer freestyle. Lee Eui-jin finished runner-up at the same event. Han Da-som will join the two for the women’s events, while Jeong Jong-won and Kim Min-woo will compete in the men’s 10-kilometer race.
