Mnet announced Wednesday that it will receive applications from male dancers and dance crews for the upcoming “Street Man Fighter” from 6 p.m. on March 4 to midnight on April 8.

“Street Man Fighter” is the male version of Mnet’s hit dance competition show for all-female dance crews in Korea. Local male dancers and crews remain relatively outside of the public and media spotlight.

Unlike “Street Woman Fighter,” which saw existing crews of female dancers participate, Mnet said it will accept applications from individual male dancers as well as crews “to give opportunities to individual talented dancers who do not belong to a dance crew yet.” Individual dancers will form a new crew within the competition and battle against other crews.

Mnet released performance music for individual dancers on Wednesday. Those interested in applying should download the music, create choreography and upload it on their social media channels.

“We really appreciate the viewers for all the love and interest they’ve shown in ‘Street Woman Fighter,’” said producer Choi Jeong-nam, who will be producing the male version of the show. “We have witnessed the growing popularity of dancers and dance crews in Korea and decided that this time it will be interesting to include the public and allow them to form a male dance crew.”

“Dancing is once again under the limelight, but the scale is nothing like before. Breakdancing will debut in the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China and Korean break dancers will compete in the games,” said Kwon Young-chan, chief producer of the show. “We are also organizing a large-scale show overseas for Korean dancers so please look forward to that.”

“Street Man Fighter” is slated to air this summer. Exact dates have not been announced.
