Lotte Department Store has planned various events and promotions for the month of May.

Over 2 million people visited Lotte Department Store’s Jamsil branch in southern Seoul between April 1 and 17 as the company hosted its monthly sale, which aligned with the cherry blossom season, to see the flowers at the nearby Seokchon Lake Park.

Lotte Shopping, which runs the department store, plans to offer various discounts and events in hopes that its branches will continue to bustle with visitors.

An area featuring amusement park-themed castles and illustrations by British pop artist Jon Burgerman will be set up at select branches — the Jamsil branch, the main branch in Jung District, central Seoul, the Dongtan branch in Gyeonggi and the Busan branch.

Visitors who take photos and upload them on social media can receive greeting cards and stickers with Jon Burgerman's illustrations. The gifts will be given on-site from Friday to Sunday and again from May 5 to 8.

Customers can download a 10 percent discount coupon on Lotte Department Store's app from Friday until May 8, to be used on makeup products at the department store. Another maximum 10 percent discount coupon can be downloaded on Lotte On, an e-commerce website run by Lotte Shopping, to be used on clothes and cosmetics.

Kids' toys will be discounted. Lego stores at five branches — the main branch, Jamsil branch, Dongtan branch, Busan branch and Incheon branch — will offer a 20 percent discount. Gymboree Play & Music stores will offer a 25 percent discount on its best-selling puzzle toy, Dynamic Brain.

Polo Ralph Lauren's Polo Candy Color Shop will have a pop-up store open at the Jamsil branch from Wednesday until May 8. The store will exclusively sell Earth Polo shirts, made of recycled plastic bottles.
