While Ulsan Hyundai cemented their position at the top of the table adding a win against Gimcheon Sangmu on Saturday, the competition in the middle of the K League standings is fierce, with Daegu FC stepping up to sixth place beating Gangwon FC 3-0 on Sunday at home.

On Saturday, Ulsan cemented their lead by beating Gimcheon 2-0, marking their 10th consecutive win this season with only 14 games played so far. Ulsan is now eight points ahead of runners-up Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.

Defending champions Jeonbuk beat Suwon FC 1-0 on Sunday and have now jumped up to second place from last week's fifth.

Jeonbuk struggled in the early stages of the season. In March, Jeonbuk was in second-to-last place after just five weeks of K League action.

Jeonbuk are picking up their pace, now having gone nine matches without a loss.

On Sunday at DGB Daegu Bank Park in Daegu, Kim Jin-hyuk, Bruno Lamas and Jeong Tae-wook scored Daegu's three goals against Gangwon FC, with Cesinha picking up two assists.

With the two assists, Cesinha now joins the 50-50 club as he now has a total of 73 goals and 50 assists in the K League. The Brazilian forward is only the 12th player to hit the milestone and the first Daegu player to achieve the feat.

Cesinha was benched for a month after he suffered a muscle injury on April 6 during a match against Seongnam FC. But ever since he returned to the field for Daegu on May 5, when Daegu held the Pohang Steelers to a 1-1 tie, Daegu has not lost a single match.

Seemingly recovered from his injury, Cesinha scored a goal and an assist against the Suwon Samsung Bluewings on May 8. He then went on to score three goals and record four assists in the last four games. Cesinha now has a total of five goals and four assists this season, topping the table for the most assists alongside Joo Min-kyu of Jeju United and Um Won-sang of Ulsan.
