U.S. President Joe Biden wrapped up a three-day trip to Seoul with a visit to the Korean Air and Space Operations Center (KAOC) alongside President Yoon Suk-yeol Sunday afternoon in a show of security coordination amid North Korea's missile threats.

조 바이든 미 대통령이 윤석열 대통령과 함께 일요일 오후 항공우주작전본부를 방문하는 것으로 사흘간 방한 일정을 마쳤다. 북한 미사일 위협 중에 한미 안보협력을 보여주는 상징적인 장면이다.

This marks the first visit to the center by a U.S. president and comes after the two leaders in their first summit talks Saturday agreed to expand the "scope and scale" of combined military exercises and training.

미국 대통령이 항공우주작전본부를 방문한 것은 이번이 처음이다. 게다가토요일에 열렸던 한미 정상회담에서 한미 합동 군사훈련의 “범위와 규모”를 확대하기로 합의한 이후 양국 정상이 함께 방문한 것이다.

They also committed to the deployment of U.S. strategic military assets "in a timely and coordinated manner as necessary" to reinforce deterrence in the face of North Korea's"destabilizing activities," according to their joint statement.

공동 성명에 따르면, 한미 정상은 북한의 “도발적 군사행동”에 대해 억제력을 강화하기 위해 “필요시 적절한 시기에 적절한 방식으로” 미군의 전략자산들을 전개할 것을 약속했다.

The KAOC at Osan Air Base in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, situated in an underground bunker, is a key strategic command post for directing aerospace operations within the Korean Peninsula. Yoon is the first Korean commander-in-chief to visit the KAOC in some 13 years.

경기 평택 소재 오산 미 공군기지 지하벙커에 위치한 항공우주작전본부는 한반도의 항공우주 작전을 지휘하는 핵심 전투 사령부이다. 윤 대통령은 13년 만에 처음으로 항공우주작전본부를 방문한 한국군 총사령관이다.

"I believe that the KAOC is the critical center to together respond to the DPRK's increasing nuclear and missile threat and also a symbol of the robust ROK-U.S. alliance," Yoon said to Korean and American service members.
