Subways partially submerge after Wednesday's heavy rains

Parts of KTX Gwangmyeong Station and Seoul Subway’s Geumcheon District Office Station were flooded as more than 100 millimeters (3.9 inches) of rain fell in the Seoul metropolitan area on Wednesday.
 
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, as of 10 p.m. Wednesday, the accumulated precipitation amounted to 276 millimeters in Baengnyeong Island and 224.5 millimeters in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi.
 
With part of the KT Gwangmyeong Station flooded Wednesday, soil and sand flowed into the station along with rainwater from the nearby Sinansan Line railway construction site.
