The H2 MEET 2022, the largest hydrogen exhibition in Korea, is set to kick off on Aug. 31 at Kintex in Goyang, Gyeonggi, with 240 exhibitors from 16 countries.

Previously named the Hydrogen Mobility+ Show, the H2 MEET exhibition will be marking its third year. This year’s event will encompass all hydrogen sectors from production to utilization, taking a step forward from the previous mobility-centered theme.

“As the hydrogen industry is expanding into a variety of areas such as hydrogen-based steelmaking and fuel cells [...] we rebranded the event to cover not only the mobility sector but the entire hydrogen industry ecosystem,” said Jeong Man-ki, chairman of the Korea Industry Alliance Forum (KIAF) and head of the H2 Meet organizing committee, during a press conference held in Seocho District, southern Seoul, Wednesday.

“The H2 MEET 2022 exhibition is the biggest of its kind in the world, in terms of the number of the participating companies, the scale of exhibition space and international participants,” said Jeong.

The exhibition space measures 19,801 square meters (213,136 square feet), 42 percent larger than last year.

In the hydrogen production sector, 48 companies from home and abroad will take part in the exhibition, 75 companies in the storage and distribution sector and 68 companies in the utilization sector. Forty-nine organizations including research institutes and embassies will join the event as well.

Korea’s Posco, Hyundai Motor, SK and Hyosung are included on the list.

Sixty-five foreign exhibitors from 16 countries include 16 from Britain, 12 from the Netherlands, 12 from Canada, 7 from Australia, 5 from the United States and 5 from France. Canada was selected as the guest country of honor this year.

The three main keywords for this year’s event will be global, technology and networking. Jeong emphasized that global cooperation is the key to hydrogen economy expansion.

“It is difficult for a single country to set up and dominate the whole hydrogen industry value chain by itself,” said Jeong. “I believe that each country should focus on what they can do and work together through international trade and technological collaboration.”

The H2 MEET 2022 organizing committee includes KIAF, Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association, H2Korea, Hydrogen Energy Network and Korea Hydrogen Industry Association. The four-day event will run through Sept. 3.
