Wemade to participate in Kiaf Seoul as main sponsor
Wemade will participate in the Korea International Art Fair (Kiaf) Seoul as the main sponsor of the annual art festival set to run from Sept. 2 to 6.
The game publisher will set up two exhibition booths for the fair, one inside the main event space in southern Seoul's Coex and another in Kiaf Plus, a satellite exhibit being held for the first time at southern Seoul's Setec. Kiaf Plus will feature new media artworks, including those using non-fungible tokens (NFT).
Wemade's exhibits will focus on expanding the Korean blockchain market by combining it with diverse fields of art. The company said it will also make investments in the local art field. The size of the sponsorships or the investments were not revealed.
A demo and explanation of the company's Nile NFT and decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) platform, scheduled for official launch next month, will be displayed at the fair. Nile was first unveiled during Korea Blockchain Week 2022 earlier this month.
Wemade's director of its NFT business department Lee Mi-kyung will give a presentation titled "New Future," explaining the future of art in connection with DAO and NFT technology.
This year's Kiaf will take place in partnership with the London-based Frieze art fair. Tickets to either Kiaf or Frieze will grant access to both events.
