One miner trapped underground after accident in North Gyeongsang mine
One miner is trapped after an accident in an underground mine in Bonghwa County, North Gyeongsang, on Monday morning.
The accident took place at 10:06 a.m. on Monday, initially trapping two miners. One worker has since been rescued, while the other is still missing as of 2:30 p.m.
Ten miners were working on the site at the time.
The cause of the accident is seen to be a sinkhole opening up underground, according to the police and firefighters.
“As the accident took place underground, the rescue may take a while,” said a spokesperson for the fire department.
