The number of people living alone in Seoul reached 1.54 million in June, according to data released by the Seoul Metropolitan Government Monday.
The figure, which is up 45,000 compared to data from Statistics Korea from last December, was based on data shared with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, SK Telecom and the University of Seoul.
According to the data, those in their 20s to 30s living alone mostly resided near university campuses and large companies, while those in their 60s or older lived in areas such as Gangbuk, Dobong and Nowon districts.
