Supermarkets and convenience stores flooded during typhoon

Retailers is the south were hard hit by Typhoon Hinnamnor, with many temporarily closing to recover from damage.
 
The Emart branch in Nam District, Pohang, was flooded from the typhoon and will close on Tuesday to make repairs and clean the stores.
 
Various products sold at the branch have been submerged, and Emart said it is currently looking into how much was ruined.
 
Typhoon Hinnamnor hit Geoje, South Gyeongsang, around 4:50 a.m. on Tuesday and left the country through Ulsan around 7:10 a.m. Pohang was heavily affected, with 80 milimeters per hour of rain at around 5 a.m.

Roads in front of Lotte Department Store’s branch in Buk District, Pohang, were also flooded early Tuesday. But the company said the branch was able to open as usual due to flood-proof panels preventing too much water from flooding in.
 
GS25 was also affected by the typhoon, with 28 branches reporting damage and temporarily closed due to the typhoon as of 9 a.m.
 
GS Retail, which runs GS25 branches, said the affected franchisees are covered by insurance and will be given compensation for their losses. The company said it will also provide additional financial support for franchises that need help.  
 
7-Eleven branches weren’t forced to close, but around 30 branches reported flood damage and water leakage, with most of the branches located in Busan. Emart reported 14 branches affected by the typhoon.  
 
BGF Retail, which operates CU convenience stores, said 60 branches reported flood damages as of 8 a.m. Tuesday. More than half of the affected branches are located on the southern coast and in Gangwon.
