After Typhoon Hinnamnor passed through the southeast of Korea early this week, local electronics makers Samsung and LG are offering repair services for water-damaged home appliances in the regions, free of charge.

Samsung Electronics on Thursday said that its engineers set up temporary service centers, two in Pohang and one in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang, which were hit hard by the typhoon, starting Wednesday.

Samsung’s service engineers are stopping by households located in flooded areas in Pohang to help restore damaged appliances and also offering services that can be made with appointments.

LG Electronics sent its engineers to Pohang and Gyeongju as well.

The electronics maker set up five temporary service centers in the regions, providing free repair services. LG employees are visiting homes where flood damage has been particularly severe to replace broken parts and clean up water-damaged appliances.

Typhoon Hinnamnor landed near Geoje, South Gyeongsang, at around 4:50 a.m. on Tuesday and left the country through Ulsan at 7:10 a.m. Eleven people died, including nine in Pohang, and three were injured with one person reported missing.

By Thursday 6 a.m., 8,370 cases of household flooding have been reported nationwide, mostly in North Gyeongsang, according to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters.
