Seoul City is holding a job fair for foreigners married to Koreans on Oct. 12 at Seoul Citizens Hall.

The fair, co-hosted by the Yeongdeungpo-gu Multicultural Family Support Center, will offer jobs in translation, interpretation and educational services. Nineteen companies will offer on-the-spot individual interviews, and recruitment information from around 30 companies will be offered. Some 300 job-seekers are expected.

Consultations on how to write a resume and job interview tips will also be offered. Participants will also be able to practice mock interviews using virtual reality (VR) devices.

A lecture by a foreigner married to a Korean who found a job in translation will be given.

Events such as an ID photo shoot for resumes will also be held.

Interpreters in Chinese, Vietnamese and Mongolian will be at the fair to help those who are not fluent in Korean.

This will be the first such job fair in two years because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Last year alone, 324 foreign spouses participated in a virtual event with 17 companies.

“I hope the job fair can be a good opportunity for immigrants to utilize their strengths and find jobs through counseling and consultations,” said Kim Seon-soon, director of Women and Family Policy Office at the city government. “We will continue to offer various support measures to help multicultural families work in various fields.”

Registration can be done through Oct. 7 through Google Form (https://bit.ly/취업박람회신청). Anyone who is married to a Korean national, and holds a F-6 (marriage migrant) or F-5 (permanent resident) visa or has acquired the Korean nationality can participate.
