Korea is set to get its first Five Guys early next year.

Galleria Department Store announced Thursday it signed a licensing agreement with Five Guys Enterprises (FGE) International to operate the burger chain in Korea. The agreement was signed Wednesday between William Peecher, vice president of FGE International, and Kim Dong-seon, head of new business strategies at Hanwha Solutions' Galleria division.

The department store company plans to open the first Five Guys branch in the first half of next year, though the location was not specified.

It plans to open over 15 branches in the next five years.

“We are very pleased to partner with Galleria as our Korean partner,” said William Peecher, vice president of FGE International. “Based on our high quality food and passion, we expect it to experience huge success in the Korean market.”

FGE International operates Five Guys in 23 countries, with over 1,700 branches globally. Korea will be the fifth Asian country to have the burger chain, following Hong Kong, Singapore, China and Malaysia.
