Alibaba Cloud signed an agreement with the Korea Indie Game Society (KIGS) to help Korean game developers launch their games in overseas markets, especially in Southeast Asia, the tech company said Thursday.

Alibaba Cloud, the digital tech subsidiary of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, will give free consultations and education programs on cloud technology to small Korean game companies.

The indie games will also be given access to Alibaba Cloud’s networks in the Southeast Asian markets. The Alibaba subsidiary will also help the Korean companies raise investments from overseas investors.

“We have seen increased demand from Korean gaming companies for cloud products and services, ranging from resilient global networks to stable computing, security capabilities and real-time data analytics,” Unique Song, Alibaba Cloud's Regional General Manager for Japan and Korea, said in a press release.

“We are excited to work with the Korea Indie Game Association to help more independent Korean game companies, with outstanding flair, creativity and potential, gain recognition, grow rapidly and expand overseas."

Alibaba Cloud established its first data center in Korea last March, located in Seoul. In addition to the data center, Alibaba Cloud started offering training programs for 2,000 tech professionals in Korea.
