The case of a man in his forties who made death threats on social media against President Yun Seok Yeol and first lady Kim Kun-hee has been referred to the prosecution.

The suspect wrote "decapitate the incompetent Yun Seok Yeol and Kim Kun-hee" on his Twitter account on Aug. 20, 2022.

He also posted a photo of the first lady and wrote in his post that she should better kill herself, adding that she needs to stay silent unless she wants to get shot like Park Chung Hee and Shinzo Abe. Park is the former President of Korea and Abe the former Prime Minister of Japan. Both were assassinated.

On Aug. 22, he warned that "Aug. 29 will be the deathday for Yoon Suk Yeol, Kim Kun-hee." He also mentioned other ruling party figures, such as Justice Minister Han Dong-hoon, lawmakers Kweon Seong-dong and Joo Ho-young, and Gyeongju city mayor Joo Nak-young.

Image of chemicals, such as potassium nitrate, sulfur and charcoal, were also uploaded on his feed later in the same month.

Police began investigating the suspect after receiving a report from the National Intelligence Service on Aug. 25, 2022.

Police was reportedly able to point him out after Twitter disclosed his information.
