Hyundai Motor's Ioniq 6 received an official U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) range of up to 361 miles, beating the longest-ranged Tesla Model 3.

That is based on a long-range version of the sedan. Tesla's long-range sedan has been certificated with 358 miles, according to the EPA.

Its fuel economy stands at 140 miles per gallon, also the best figure of any vehicle in the United Sates, tied with Lucid's Air sedan. Tesla is in second place with 132 miles per gallon.

“Continually improving the efficiency of our vehicles is always a top priority for our development teams,” said Olabisi Boyle, vice president, of product planning and mobility strategy, at Hyundai Motor North America.

“Instead of just adding a larger battery to increase the range, we chose to optimize Ioniq 6’s aerodynamic performance and its electric-global modular platform for efficiency to produce these long driving ranges.”
