Foreign minister meets with families of forced laborers

Foreign Minister Park Jin holds a press conference after meeting with the bereaved family of Koreans forced into labor during the colonial period at the Seoul Bar Association in Gangnam, southern Seoul on Tuesday. Park told reporters that the families and victims listened to the government’s plans. This was the first time that Park has met with the bereaved family. Around 220,000 Koreans were forced to work in Japan during Japan's occupation of Korea between 1910 and 1945. While the Korean Supreme Court has ordered Japanese companies to compensate the labor victims, the issue is still being discussed by the Korean and Japanese government. [YONHAP]
