Posco announced Wednesday that it has donated 4 billion won ($3 million) to the Foundation for Victims of Forced Mobilization by Imperial Japan.

"The company is donating the remaining portion of the 10 billion won that it had promised to contribute in the past, in accordance with the government announcement," the steelmaker said in a statement.

Posco had announced in March 2012 that it will donate 10 billion won to a compensation foundation for victims of forced labor. It made two donations of 3 billion won each in 2016 and 2017.

The company added that it has fulfilled the promise it made to the foundation by contributing the remaining money.
