Hanwha Energy sold a 204-megawatt solar plant project in Spain to Ireland-based Amarenco Solar, the energy company said Wednesday.

After winning the deal in 2019, Hanwha Energy was to start construction in September.

The sale price was not disclosed.

The 204-megawatt plant will be able to provide electricity to about 109,000 households. It can eliminate 83,000 tons of greenhouse gases emitted by 58,000 vehicles.

Headquartered in Cork, Ireland, Amarenco Solar runs more than 2,000 solar plants in 14 countries.

The latest deal is Hanwha's second deal with Amarenco Solar after it sold it a 50-megawatt solar plant in Seville, southern Spain in Nov. 2020.

"The sell-off is meaningful in that we were able to increase stability in finance amid the lingering uncertainty in management," Hanwha Energy CEO Kim Hee-cheul said.

Established in 2018 in Spain, Hanwha Energy Corporation Europe is running solar panel businesses in Spain, Italy and Ireland.
