Japanese students return
Ruteru Gakuen High School students from Japan’s Kumamoto Prefecture arrive at Incheon International Airport on Tuesday. The Japanese students are on a five-day trip, which includes classes at a sister high school in Jeonju and visits to major tourist destinations, such as the Hanok Village, Gyeongbok Palace, Seoul Tower, Namdaemun market and Lotte World. According to the Korean Culture Ministry, this is the first Japanese student field trip in nearly three years since the Covid-19 outbreak started. Recently, relations between the two countries have started to thaw, especially since the Korean government increased its efforts to normalize the relationship with Japan. Last week, President Yoon Suk Yeol visited Tokyo to meet Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. It was the first bilateral summit between the leaders of the two countries in 12 years. [YONHAP]
