Police tracking person who made threat to kill president online
Police are tracking a person who claimed on the internet to have bought a pistol with cryptocurrency to kill the president.
The police received a report Sunday about a post on an online community that threatened to kill President Yoon Suk Yeol.
The police deemed the matter "serious" and transferred the case to the cyber police to track the uploader's IP address
The post was uploaded at 10:22 p.m. Sunday with a picture of a pistol. The writer said he will save the country by killing the president.
People who carry unauthorized firearms in Korea can face three to 15 years in prison or a fine between 30 to 100 million won ($22,700-$75,600).
