Samsung users in Korea can now fix their Galaxy gadgets by themselves with a self-repair kit.

Samsung Electronics on Tuesday introduced a self-repair program for some of its smartphone, laptop and TV models in the domestic market.

Using the self-repair program, Samsung users will be able to fix their electronic devices without visiting consumer service centers in person.

The step-by-step self-repair manual videos and do-it-yourself kits, consisting of necessary components and tools, were first introduced in the United States in August last year. Korea is the second country where they became available.

The self-repair kit, which can be bought online, is available for Galaxy S20, S21 and S22 series smartphones, Galaxy Book Pro 15 laptops, and three types of 32-inch TV models.

For smartphones, consumers will be able to replace the front display, the back cover and the charging port with the kit. Seven laptop components including the display, battery, touchpad and power button and TV panels can be self-repaired.

If tools in the repair kits are returned to a Samsung customer service center, consumers will be able to have their deposits refunded.

“Samsung Electronics always strives to help consumers enjoy the best product and service for a long period of time,” said Roh Tae-moon, president and head of Samsung’s MX division, adding that “we will continue to expand repair service options for consumers with the self-repair programs and make the repair service easier to access.”

Samsung Electronics currently runs 178 service centers in Korea.
