SK Signet finishes EV ultra-fast charger plant in Texas
SK Signet said Wednesday it completed the construction of an EV charger plant in Plano, Texas, which will produce 400-kilowatt ultra-fast chargers.
It is the first EV charger plant built by a Korean company in the United States.
Mass production will start in July, with an annual capacity of 10,000 units.
The produced chargers will be installed at public charging operators, gas stations and convenience stores, and also at commercial companies that run EV fleets.
With the charger, an EV6 can be charged from 20 percent to 80 percent in only 14 minutes and 44 seconds, SK Signet said.
"With the completion of the U.S. factory, SK Signet now has 20,000 capacity," SK Signet CEO Shin Jung-ho said.
SK Signet is currently No. 1 in the U.S. ultra-fast charger market with around 2,500 chargers and has major charging station operators as clients, including Apple Green Electric and EVgo.
