Japanese animation "Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine" beat "Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One" to gain the number one spot at the box office on its opening day on Friday.
 
"Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine" attracted 117,000 moviegoers on the day of its opening on Friday and took first place at the box office, according to the integrated computer network for movie theater ticket sales of the Korean Film Council. The share of ticket sales of "Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine" was 27.9 percent.
 
"Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Park One," which has been at the top of the box office ever since its release on July 12, attracted 103,000 moviegoers and took second place.
 
Pixar Studios' "Elemental" took third place, and "Barbie," starring Margot Robbie and Ryan, took fourth.
 
The number of audiences on the opening day of "Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine" was the highest among the Detective Conan films released in Korea, according to distributor CJ ENM.
 
"Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine" is the 26th film from the Detective Conan franchise, an animation based on a manga by Gosho Aoyama.
 
"Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine" tells the story of Conan, a young detective who faces an underground organization trying to take over artificial intelligence technology being developed at Interpol's state-of-the-art marine facility.
 
"Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine" was released in April in Japan and attracted more than 9 million viewers.
