Melting Soul wins inaugural Korea Burger Championship

Korean burger shop Melting Soul became the final winner of the 2023 Korea Burger Championship, held for two days over the weekend at the shopping complex Common Ground in Gwangjin District, eastern Seoul.

Nine teams — Burger Bov, Melting Soul, Bored & Hungry, Burn Out Burger, With Bun, Rabbit Hotel Burger Company, Burger In, Daily Fix and Team Easter — competed and were required to create their burgers in a limited time. Melting Soul presented a cheeseburger that incorporates three different types of cheese and an original burger.

With the win, Melting Soul will be competing in the annual World Burger Championship set to be held in Dallas, Texas, in November.

"We are so happy to have won this award and will continue to work hard for the World Burger Championship," Melting Soul said in a statement on Tuesday.

Melting Soul is a burger brand owned by singer Kim Tae-woo and celebrity chef Lee Won-il. It currently has five locations which are at amusement park Everland in Yongin, Gyeonggi; water park Caribbean Bay in Yongin; Lotte Department Store headquarters in Jung District, central Seoul; Sokcho, Gangwon; and Namyangju, Gyeonggi.

The Korea Burger Championship was held for the first time this year to select one burger brand to represent Korea in the World Burger Championship.
