White Cube will open its first Seoul exhibition, “The Embodied Spirit,” on Sept. 5, the London-based contemporary art gallery said Thursday.

This comes after the gallery announced plans to open its second Asian branch in Gangnam District, southern Seoul, following Hong Kong in 2012.

“The Embodied Spirit” is a group exhibition that includes the works of artists all over the world, like Louise Giovanelli, Christine Ay Tjoe, Tracey Emin, Berlinde de Bruyckere and Korean artist Lee Jin-ju. The show attempts to explore themes of the inseparability of the mind and body, and the depths of the human existence.

Lee, who is based in the southeastern port city of Busan, utilizes traditional techniques in her paintings to depict personal and dreamlike sceneries.

White Cube is also set to participate in the upcoming contemporary art fair Frieze Seoul for the second time. Frieze Seoul takes place from Sept. 6 to 9 at Coex in southern Seoul.

“The Embodied Spirit” continues until Dec. 21.
