Equinor, Norway’s state-run oil and gas supplier, will work with Posco International to build the world’s largest offshore floating wind farm in Ulsan, the companies said Thursday.

Equinor and Posco International signed a memorandum of understanding that day for a comprehensive collaboration across a range of energy sectors, from offshore wind, hydrogen, and ammonia to liquefied natural gas.

With the signing of the deal, the two companies agreed to collaborate on the Firefly Project, which aims to install 50 units of 15-megawatt floating offshore wind turbines off the coast of Ulsan. Once completed, the 750-megawatt floating offshore wind farm will be the largest of its kind in the world.

The signing ceremony was held in Singapore with Equinor’s Executive Vice President Irene Rummelhoff, Senior Vice President of Renewables Asia-Pacific Ingunn Svegården, and Lee Jeon-hyuk, head of Posco International’s energy division in attendance.
