Painter Kim Hyoung-geun dead at 93

Artist Kim Hyoung-geun died Thursday. He was 93.

Kim was called “the silver-white painter” because his paintings were largely characterized by that color. He was also known for his painting, “Flower and Woman” (translated).

He was born in Tongyeong in South Gyeongsang in 1930. He was interested in art all his life, winning national art competitions and holding a solo exhibition in New York in 1971.

In 1992, he became a judge for the national art competition.

His works are currently on display at the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office and the Judicial Research & Training Institute. In 2018, one of his paintings was shown in the Blue House.

He is survived by his wife and children.
