North Korea launched two ballistic missiles into the East Sea on Wednesday.

North Korea fired two ballistic missiles into the East Sea, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said Wednesday.

The missiles were launched between 11:43 a.m. and 11:53 a.m. from the Sunan area of Pyongyang, the JCS said in a statement.

The launch comes during Kim Jong-un’s visit to Russia for a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which was confirmed later in the day, with the details of the meeting undisclosed.

It is the first time North Korea fired missiles during Kim’s overseas visit.

North Korea had fired two short-range ballistic missiles into the East Sea on Aug. 30 and multiple cruise missiles into the Yellow Sea on Sep. 2.
