Hana Travlog adds eight more currencies

[HANA CARD]

[HANA CARD]

Hana Card will add eight more currencies to its travel-centered debit card that allows users to exchange Korean won into foreign currencies and make transactions via the card.

The Hana Travlog card, launched in the second half of last year, currently allows users to exchange Korean won into 18 different currencies on its app, including the U.S. dollar, Japanese yen, euro and Chinese yuan.

Hana Card offers favorable currency exchange rates and does not charge a commission fee when the cardholder makes overseas payments with the debit card using the exchanged currency. Users can also accumulate Hana points after spending at affiliated stores abroad.

The number of people that have signed up for the card surpassed 2 million as of August after the number broke a million in May last year.

The eight new currencies that will be added to the service starting on Oct. 19 are the currencies of Norway, Taiwan, Denmark, Malaysia, Mexico, United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Poland.

Overseas payments made through Hana debit cards stood at 549.35 billion won ($415 million) as of July, followed by Shinhan Card with 449.2 billion won and KB Kookmin Card with 260 billion won.
