KG Mobility, formerly SsangYong Motor, debuted the Torres EVX on Wednesday, the electric version of the Torres SUV.

It is the first all-electric vehicle for the Korean automaker since it changed its name in March.

The Torres EVX represents the company's identity in its electrification strategy through its sleek lines and horizontal LED daytime running lamps, KG said.

The high-body car is suitable for off-road driving with a minimum ride height of 17.5 centimeters.

Powered by BYD's 73.4-kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate, or LFP, batteries, it can travel more than 433 kilometers (269 miles) per single charge.

"The Torres EVX is the most competitive EV currently available in the Korean market with its SUV-centered design, applicability, safety and reasonable price," Kim Beom-suk, KG Mobility's executive marketing director, said. "It is the result of our thorough consideration of what the customers want from KG Mobility and what we can do best."

The car's vehicle-to-lad (V2L) function allows owners to charge and power other devices with its interior and exterior power outlets. It can also load up to 839 liters of cargo, which is a plus for campers.

The Torres EVX has up to 204 horsepower, up 22 percent compared to the gasoline-powered Torres. Its maximum torque stands at 34 kilograms-meter (173.6 pound-foot), up 21 percent.

The sticker price starts from 47.5 million won ($36,000), around 2 million won down from the preorder price.

With tax credits, the car can be purchased under 40 million won, KG Mobility said.

The Torres SUV, launched in July last year, saved the automaker from a lingering sales slump, selling over 50,000 units in just a year.

KG Mobility turned a profit in the first half, logging 28.2 billion won ($21.7 million) in operating profit in the January-to-June period, with revenues hitting a record of 2.1 trillion won.
