Korea lose women's volleyball opener to Vietnam

The Korean women’s volleyball team dropped their opening game of the Hangzhou Asian Games on Sunday, losing 3-2 to Vietnam at HZNU Gymnasium in Hangzhou, China.

Korea, who have been on a run of bad form for more than a year since former star Kim Youn-koung retired, won the opening two sets, 25-16, 25-22, but then fell apart in the second half of the game to lose three in a row and the game.

All five sets were hotly contested, with Korea losing the third and fourth set 25-22, and then dropping the fifth set decider 15-11.

Korea will play its second group stage game against Nepal on Monday. A win in that game will allow Korea to advance in the tournament, as the top two teams from each group will move on to the second round.
