Samsung Electronics has released its latest portable solid-state drive (SSD), named T9, with a processing speed twice as fast as its predecessor.

The Korean chipmaker said that at its maximum speed, the T9 can transfer a 4-gigabyte high-definition video in two seconds, storing and transmitting data at 2,000 megabytes-per-second.

With a USB-C port, the product is compatible with operating systems including Windows, macOS and Android as well in gaming consoles and high-resolution cameras.

The product also complies with the global safety standard set by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) with minimal heat transfer so that its temperature does not go over 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit).

“With advances in high-resolution photos and the rising popularity of 4K videos, professional content creators now face the necessity of transferring large amounts of data on a frequent basis,” said Sohn Han-gu, vice president of the Memory Brand Product Biz Team at Samsung Electronics, in a statement.

“The T9 offers a solution for professionals to alleviate the challenges that come with managing their data, and Samsung will continue to provide optimized memory solutions that enable professionals to fully concentrate on achieving their creative potential.”

T9 comes with three storage options — 1, 2 or 4 terabytes — at the respective prices of 165,000 won ($121.26), 291,000 won and 530,000 won for the domestic price. Global retail price was set at $139.99, $239.99 and $439.99.
