Korea’s consumer prices rose 3.7 percent in September from a year earlier following a rise in global oil prices and agricultural products due to heavy rain and heat waves, according to Statistics Korea on Thursday.

The growth rate rose 0.3 percentage points from a month earlier, staying above 3 percent for two consecutive months after hovering at the 2 percent range in June and July.

Core inflation, excluding volatile food and energy prices, rose 3.3 percent on year, remaining unchanged from a month earlier.

Consumer price growth has cooled after it peaked at 6.3 percent in July last year.
