Poster of the upcoming world tour production of "School of Rock" slated to hit Korea next year [S&CO]

 
The international production of the musical “School of Rock” is set to make stops in Seoul and Busan next year, according to musical production company S&Co on Thursday.
 
The musical is slated to open at the Seoul Arts Center Opera House in Seocho District, southern Seoul, from Jan. 12 to March 24, then at Busan's Dream Theatre in April. Specific dates for the Busan show have not yet been revealed.

“School of Rock” is an American show with music by musical giant Andrew Lloyd Webber, who also worked on musicals like “Phantom of the Opera” and “Cats.” The lyrics are by Glenn Slater and the book for the musical was written by Julian Fellowes.
 
It was first staged on Broadway in 2015 and gave around 1,300 performances before closing in 2019. It was performed over 1,400 times on London's West End.
 
“School of Rock” is inspired by the 2003 film of the same name starring actor Jack Black. The story centers on a failed guitarist and wannabe rock star Dewey Finn who hides his identity to get hired as a substitute teacher at a prep school. There, he discovers the students' musical talents and forms a rock band.
