Hana Financial Group’s CEO and Chairman Ham Young-joo is the latest to participate in the Zero Disposable Challenge, a campaign started by the Ministry of Environment aimed at reducing the use of disposable products and increasing the use of reusable ones.

Launched in February, the campaign is a social media relay challenge that builds on community engagement to spread awareness about limiting the use of disposable products and promoting the practice in daily life. Participants nominated for the relay challenge promise to upkeep their part in the campaign’s cause, before recommending the next person.

Chairman Ham was challenged by Dongwha Enterprise Chairman Seung Myung-ho. He took the challenge in stride, talking to company employees about the importance of environmentally friendly practices in everyday life, according to Hana’s press release on Thursday.

Gas company E1's Chairman Koo Ja-yong and energy company CNCITY Energy CEO Hwang In-kyu were called out as the next torch bearers of the challenge.

“I hope small, eco-friendly practices will become a part of daily life through the Zero Disposable Challenge. Hana Financial Group will continuously strive to create social value through ESG management activities,” said Chairman Ham.
