Nicknamed the “Korean Grammys,” the 38th Golden Disc Awards will take place on Jan. 6 in Jakarta, Indonesia, to honor the passion and talent that shone bright in the world of K-pop during the year of 2023.

Organized by the JoongAng Group, the Golden Disc Awards is considered one of the most prestigious awards in Korea with its unique format where dozens of nominees and multiple winners are chosen for three main categories — music, album and rookie of the year.

In this series, Golden 2023, the Korea JoongAng Daily’s entertainment arm Celeb Confirmed looks at K-pop’s biggest and brightest stars who are potential nominees, and their achievements this year.

Tomorrow X Together, Big Hit Entertainment's second boy band, made its much-anticipated debut under scrutinizing eyes from the global music industry.

Fast forward to 2023, and the “little brothers of BTS” are now one of the biggest names in K-pop in their own right, with massive achievements under their belts and a career that builds steadily with each new release.

Tomorrow X Together has become one of the most popular names among overseas K-pop fans with a wide music range that encompasses the grooviest R&B and upbeat dance tracks to heavy rock — as well as catchy songs that mix many genres.

The band released two albums this year: its fifth EP, “The Name Chapter: Temptation,” and third full-length album, “The Name Chapter: Freefall,” both of which sold more than 2 million copies within their first week of release.

The band will hold encore concerts for its second world tour “Act: Sweet Mirage” at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Guro District, western Seoul, on Dec. 2 and 3.
