Hwang Ui-jo's sex tape blackmailer is his sister-in-law, police say

The woman arrested on Thursday for blackmailing star footballer Hwang Ui-jo and leaking his sex tapes is the footballer's sister-in-law, the police said on Wednesday.

Seoul police are questioning the sister-in-law, who posed herself as Hwang's ex-lover in her Instagram post in June, in which she accused Hwang of making sex tapes without consent and having relationships with multiple women at the same time.

The post also contained pictures and videos of Hwang with women.

Hwang denied her claims later that month and sued the poster for defamation and blackmail.

Hwang's attorney also released a statement on the allegations on Monday, saying that he filmed videos with the partners' consent.

Hwang's sister-in-law acted as an agent for the footballer, as she went on business trips with her husband to assist Hwang, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency said.

The police are looking into why she posted videos and blackmailed Hwang.

The police summoned Hwang and questioned him on suspicion of making the videos without consent on Saturday, but he left for China on Sunday with the Korean national team for Tuesday's World Cup qualifier and even appeared in the match.

Hwang has yet to comment on the latest report.
