"Korea Spotlight @Mexico" took over the country's capital with K-pop.

"Korea Spotlight" is a series of Korean pop music showcases held in various countries with an aim to promote K-pop worldwide and provide opportunities for Korean artists overseas. It is jointly organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency (Kocca) and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The series started in June in Kazakhstan, followed by other countries, including Germany, Australia and Japan.

It visited Mexico for the first time on Tuesday, the country where K-pop has a big following, according to Kocca.

Five K-pop acts, Lacuna, SURL, W24, Say Sue Me and pH-1, performed at the concert.

Tickets to the event were sold out three minutes after they opened, according to Kocca.

Kocca also held a business event as part of the program featuring workshops and networking events to give Korean artists opportunities to get close to the local music industry and K-pop fans.

"We could feel the love and passion of K-content from Central and South American fans, even though it was the first K-pop showcase to be held in Mexico," Jo Hyun-rae, the director of the Korea Creative Content Agency, said. "We will continue next year to provide opportunities for Korean musicians to enter overseas markets, including programs like Korea Spotlight."
