Hyundai unfurls largest reshuffle ever as 252 executives are promoted

Hyundai Motor Group has implemented the largest reshuffle in its history, announcing five new presidents and appointing new CEOs for two Hyundai companies.

Brian Latouf, 59, was promoted to president and appointed as the global chief safety and quality officer. Joining Hyundai Motor in 2019, Latouf had been working for General Motors for 27 years and was known as a "safety veteran" who supervised a massive recall incident at the U.S. automaker.

Latouf will "have full authority to modify and enhance existing safety and quality systems at Hyundai Motor, Kia and Genesis."

Hyundai also promoted Lee Dong-seock, the head of the domestic production, to the president, crediting his achievements in vehicle production and labor management.

Kim Yun-goo, who served as the head of audit at Hyundai Motor Group, was appointed the new CEO of Hyundai Autoever.

Hyundai Motor Securities appointed Bae Hyung-keun as its new CEO. Bae, who served as the chief financial officer of Hyundai Mobis, has been promoted to president from vice president.

Jeon Byeong-ku, head of the corporate management unit at Hyundai Card and Hyundai Commercial, was also promoted to president.

A total of 252 executives were promoted, including 97 from Hyundai Motor, 38 from Kia and 20 from Hyundai Mobis.

Out of these appointments, 197 executives are newly appointed, with 38 percent in their 40s. This marks a notable increase from the 21 percent recorded in 2020.
