Judge in SK Group chief's divorce lawsuit dies

One of the judges handling SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won's divorce lawsuit died on Thursday after fainting.
 
He was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead.
 
The judge, Kang Sang-wook, 47, managed civil suits at the Seoul High Court.

His department oversees the appellate trial between Chey and his now-separated wife, Roh Soh-yeong.
 
Although Kang is not the presiding judge, his absence can delay the trial's further proceedings.
 
The first ruling by the Seoul Family Court in December 2022 ordered Chey to pay 66.5 billion won ($50.56 million) in property division and an alimony of 100 million won.
 
Both parties appealed the decision and took the case to the Seoul High Court.
