Kospi closes up 0.41% as Japan's Nikkei hits record high

Screens in Hana Bank's trading room in central Seoul show the main Japanese stock market index, the Nikkei 225, close at a record-high 39,098, up 2.19 percent from the previous trading day on Thursday, and Korea's benchmark Kospi closing at 2,664.27 points, up 0.41 percent, or 10.96 points.
The Nikkei hit a new all-time high, exceeding the previous record reached during the country's asset price bubble in the late 1980s. The index climbed 2.19 percent from the previous trading day to close at 39,098.
Korea's main Kospi index rebounded on Thursday after two consecutive days of decline.
