Daewoo Engineering & Construction (E&C) completed the installation of heat exchanging facility in Nigeria at the Nigeria NLNG Train 7 project site on Feb. 9.

A cryogenic heat exchanger assists in liquefying large volumes of natural gas and enabling refining operations, considered a critical process during the LNG value chain.

Incorporating Air Products' AP-C3MR technology, the newly installed MCHE is the largest cryogenic heat exchanger globally employing the technology, the company said Monday.

The Nigeria NLNG Train 7 project, valued at 2.1 trillion won ($1.58 billion), encompasses the construction of LNG liquefaction and auxiliary installations. Daewoo is the first Korean company to act as an original contractor in the LNG liquefaction plant engineering, procurement, and construction.

“The successful installation of the cryogenic heat exchanger, transported from the United States to Nigeria across the Atlantic Ocean, underscores the recognition of our extensive expertise and experience accumulated over the years,” said Lee Won-gil, project manager at Daewoo E&C.

Mele Kolo Kyari, group CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, visited Daewoo E&C's headquarters in central Seoul on Jan. 28 and discussed potential collaborations related to Nigeria's gas plant projects with Daewoo E&C President Baek Jung-wan.

Daewoo E&C has executed more than 70 construction operations in Nigeria since 1978. In addition to the NLNG Train 7 project, the company is also involved in projects like the Warri Refinery Quick Fix PJ and Kaduna Refinery Quick Fix PJ.
