BNP Paribas has named Dorothée Regazzoni as the new CEO of its Seoul operations and the Head of Territory for South Korea, the Paris-based financial firm said Tuesday.

The appointment took effect on March 1.

Regazzoni will oversee BNP Paribas’ overall operations in Korea, reporting directly to BNP Paribas Asia Pacific CEO Paul Yang.

“[Korea] is an important market for BNP Paribas where we support several strategic clients internationally,” said Yang, adding that “With [Regazzoni]’s deep understanding of corporate and institutional banking and extensive experience in various industries, we are confident that BNP Paribas’ Korean business will further develop under her leadership.”

Regazzoni has over 25 years of experience in corporate banking and served as a senior banker in corporate investment banking at Citigroup Switzerland before joining BNP Paribas Group in 2009, according to the firm. Most recently, she served as the global head of multinational corporate coverage, corporate and institutional banking at the company’s headquarters in Paris.

The new CEO succeeds Aymar de Liedekerke Beaufort, who has been appointed head of global banking in the Asia Pacific region.
