Huneed Technologies chief re-elected to head Korea Defense Industry Association

Huneed Technologies Chairman Eugene Kim has been re-elected as chief of the Korea Defense Industry Association (KDIA), a local business association representing defense companies.

The announcement was made during the KDIA’s annual meeting at Seoul Garden Hotel in Mapo District, western Seoul, on Tuesday.

The appointment will extend Kim's chairmanship into a second term, after first being named the 17th head of KDIA in February 2021.

"I am honored to continue my position as chairman of KDIA and am committed to diligently serving our defense industry,” Chairman Kim said during his inauguration speech. “As the landscape of the industry continues to evolve across the world, I hope to seize this moment and re-envision KDIA’s role to better align with global market trends.”

Established in 1976, the KDIA focuses on developing and supporting the defense industry in Korea. It has over 700 member firms, including Huneed Technologies, Korea Aerospace Industries, Hanwha Aerospace, LIG Nex1 and Korean Air.

During his first stint as chief of the KDIA, Kim worked on enhancing the presence of Korea’s defense industry in the global defense market, which he will continue to pursue during his second term.

“Bolstering support for small and medium-sized businesses will be central to our new strategy, empowering them to thrive on the international stage,” Kim added.

Huneed Technologies, established in 1968, is a Korean aerospace and defense company that produces communications and avionics systems for defense.
