Seoul buses resume service following wage agreement

Seoul’s intracity bus services resumed Thursday afternoon after striking drivers reached a wage agreement with management.

Bus drivers in the capital went on a general strike from 4 a.m. Thursday after last-minute wage negotiations fell through a day earlier.  
 
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the Seoul Bus Labor Union resumed bus services at 3:10 p.m. Thursday, immediately after striking a deal with management. 
 
Both parties agreed to a 4.48 percent hourly wage hike. Drivers will also receive 650,000 won ($480) in holiday compensation. 
 
The bus labor union had previously demanded a 12.7 percent increase in hourly wages.
