Doosan Enerbility won a contract with Canada's Candu Energy to supply components for a nuclear power plant in Cernavoda, Romania.

Under the contract announced Thursday, Doosan Enerbility will supply 1,520 feeder pipes to Candu Energy by 2027. The signing marks Doosan's fifth agreement to supply feeder pipes overseas following deals in China and Canada.

The feeder pipe is key component of the pressurized heavy water reactor type nuclear power plant, which transports heavy water coolant to and from fuel channels (FCs) to control the temperature.

Doosan will supply the feeder pipes used in the Unit 1 reactor at the Cernavoda nuclear power plant. The reactor, whose operating license expires in 2026, is expected to operate for an additional 30 years after undergoing an equipment improvement project.

“This contract is a consequent success following the previously supplied feeder pipes in China and Canada and is also the result of combined efforts from the government and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power to export nuclear power plants,” said Kim Jong-doo, head of Doosan Enerbility’s Atomic Energy BG division.
